Cold Feet
Understand The Problem
The main medical conditions that contribute to cold feet are neuropathy, or damaged nerves, and reduced circulation in the extremities. Atherosclerosis is one factor contributing to poor circulation. Cold feet may also result from nerve injury. Because the nerves that detect temperature are malfunctioning, the person feels cold in this situation. Even when the feet are not cold to the touch, the person may have numbness or a pins-and-needles feeling. Although the major cause of chilly feet is poor blood circulation, the issue can get even worse as the temperature drops in the winter.
